Annie and her Daddy. I love how time has softened Rick about pictures. He sees how important it is to get spontaneous pictures because they are precious. Rick, Jeni and Annie all fall into similar likenesses when we define our family’s personalities. So……….. when these two are grinning together the whole house wonders what’s up!   Leave a comment

Jude   Leave a comment

I have just finished  a six week study on the book of Jude.  One chapter, twenty-five verses, timely.    I could go on and on about all that I learned as I dug into it and revisited Old Testament examples of sin, left for us to learn from, but I won’t.  It is enough to say that with the hearings going on in California in regards to Prop eight we need to remember what God says about immorality.   Heavy and scary stuff.   Heavier yet is how we are to deal with it in the church, a church which has become increasingly full of grace-grace-grace with less and less respect to Truth.  Good read…

I am so blessed by the doxology at the end–

Now to Him Who is able to keep you from stumbling and to present you blameless before the presence of His glory with great joy, to the only God, our Savior through Jesus Christ our Lord, be glory, majesty, dominion, and authority, before all time and now and forever.  Amen

That gets me ready for the day!

Knitting with dear friends!   Leave a comment

On Sunday I dropped off Annie at Driver’s Ed.   I know, how can that sweet little girl be starting Driver’s Ed?  Time flies despite our trying to keep them little   🙂

I drove a little farther down the peninsula to a coffee shop to meet my dear friend Jennifer and her beautiful daughters.  It was the most blessed time.  her girls are at college and so we had not been together for quite some time.  We caught up on the latest news in our families, shared thoughts and ideas and encouraged each other in good reading, and the love and the joy flowed.   Oh how sweet when the children of God come together in an upstairs room in a coffee house and pray and share the love of the Lord.

Part of our conversation was on knitting as my dear Jennifer just started a store for knitters this past summer.  She has done well and asked if the girls and I would like to stop by her house and knit together in the morning before her girls headed off to college.  Much to my delight it worked out perfectly and so mid morning on Monday found us down the peninsula once again knitting to our hearts content.  It was a sweet wonderful time together with all these sweet girls.  The best part is that I learned to pearl in knitting.  How cool is that!   Jennifer answered our questions and showed us how to do things correctly.   We had so much fun as we learned together, a skill that helps to meet needs and to bless others.

Women used to get together hundreds of years ago to work and do crafts and I believe that the time together to share hearts and minds while hands worked was a healthy balance to the work of daily life.  Well….. daily life is STILL work but we lack the balance.  I guess I would have to admit that there is a very unhealthy balance being sought by many women as in the bar, the gym, the internet, the mall…… and instead of it being healthy these choices can lead to destruction as we have seen in our neck of the woods.  But we need the balance still.

Some of the women in our church have put together a time once a week for gathering and work on producing and creating together.  Each brings their craft or work and they spend the midday together and share a meal.  We went for the first time yesterday.  We waited until 1:30 to go as we needed to get school done first.  We brought our basket of knitting projects and my scrap-booking.

CONFESSION—-  I am just finishing Matthew’s book of memories.  I am WAY behind, but I have an excuse….  I kept having babies and have been a bit busy raising them!  I think that if the Lord tarries, although I hope that He would not just for my sake, I hope to get them all done.  It was so good for the soul to create and to visit and share lives with all the generations there.  Good stuff.

We are learning new things…. love it!

Blessed with friends, a new knitting stitch, laughing and learning,

Joyce
